Jewellery Care
Guidance for caring for sculptural jewellery made from silver and brass
Each piece of Brigitta Barczi Jewellery is handmade and designed to age naturally over time. Small changes in surface, colour and texture are part of the material’s character and should be embraced as part of the wearing process.
With regular care and mindful handling, your jewellery can remain beautiful for many years.
General Jewellery Care
To preserve the condition of your jewellery, avoid contact with water, moisture, perfumes, cosmetics and household chemicals. Salt water and chlorinated water can be especially damaging to metal surfaces. It is recommended to remove your jewellery before sleeping, bathing, exercising or going to the beach. When not worn, store each piece in a clean and dry place, ideally in the jewellery box provided with your order. Keeping pieces stored separately helps prevent scratching and tangling. A jewellery polishing cloth is included with every order to help maintain the natural shine of the metal over time.Brass Jewellery
Raw brass naturally oxidises through exposure to air and moisture. Over time, the surface may darken or develop a patina, giving the jewellery a softer and more lived-in appearance. This process is completely natural and part of the material’s character. If desired, the original shine can easily be restored using the polishing cloth included with your jewellery.925 Sterling Silver Jewellery
Sterling silver is generally more resistant to oxidation than brass, but it can still lose some of its original brightness over time through regular wear and exposure to air. With occasional polishing and careful handling, silver jewellery can maintain its appearance for many years. Using a silver polishing cloth regularly will help preserve the surface and shine of the metal.Caring for Handmade Sculptural Jewellery
Handmade jewellery develops character over time through wear, oxidation and contact with the environment. Proper care helps preserve both the appearance and longevity of sculptural jewellery made from silver and brass.
Because many pieces are intentionally left unplated, natural changes in colour and surface are part of the material’s behaviour rather than defects. Regular cleaning and careful storage will help maintain the jewellery while allowing it to age naturally.
